Signs of a hidden leakyou can see, hear and smell.

A water bill that jumps
Using the same water but paying more usually means some of it is going somewhere you can’t see.
Running water when everything’s off
A hiss or a trickle in the walls when no tap, toilet or appliance is running.
A warm spot on the floor
Hot water escaping from a line under a concrete slab can warm the floor above it.
Stains, bubbling paint or soft drywall
Water spreading inside a wall or ceiling shows through the paint before it shows anywhere else.
A musty smell
Damp that never dries out behind a wall or under a floor starts to smell before you can see it.
A soggy patch in the yard
Ground that stays wet when it hasn’t rained can point to the line bringing water in from the street.

Every tap, the toilets, the sprinklers, the washer and dishwasher, and the ice maker.
Find your meter
Usually in a box in the ground near the street or the sidewalk. Lift the lid.

Questions
Leak questions.Straight answers.
How do I know if I have a leak?
Try the meter test: turn every tap and appliance off, then watch the meter for fifteen minutes. If the dial or the little leak indicator moves, water is going somewhere. Then give Taysom Plumbing a call.
Will you have to open my walls?
We locate the leak first, show you what we found, then talk about the fix. If a wall does need opening, you’ll know exactly where and why first, and we clean up behind us.
What is a slab leak?
A leak in a water line under a concrete floor slab, which many Southern California homes are built on. The usual signs are a warm spot on the floor, the sound of running water and a bill that keeps climbing.
How much will it cost?
We look at the problem first, explain what we found, and give you the options with a price for each. Nothing starts until you’ve agreed to it.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Orange County: 41 cities and communities, from La Habra down to San Clemente. If you don’t see yours on the list, call us and ask.
